Our commitment to website accessibility

The Pennsylvania Youth Leadership Network (PYLN) is committed to providing a fully accessible website experience for all users of all abilities, including those who rely on assistive technologies like screen readers, screen enlargement software, and alternative keyboard input devices to navigate the web.

Website accessibility is an ongoing process. We continually test content and features for WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance and remediate any issues to ensure we meet or exceed the standards. Testing of our website is performed by our team members using industry-standard tools such as color contrast analyzers, keyboard-only navigation techniques, and Flesch-Kincaid readability tests

Accessibility Features On Our Website

On the top right of desktop, mobile, and/or tablet is an accessibility widget that allows you to:

  • change colors, contrast levels, and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen.
  • underline links

Other accessibility tools available are the ability to:

  • navigate pyln.org using just a keyboard.
  • navigate pyln.org using speech recognition software
  • listen to pyln.org using a screen reader

Web content accessibility guidelines require content to be accessible to users who are visually impaired and/or are color blind.

Our Color combinations from our palette have a 4.5:1 contrast ratio. The 4.5:1 ratio helps users with 20/40 vision was chosen which is typical for users age 80.

Where We’re Improving

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • We use a lot of graphics that may not be visible to some users.
  • Our links do not alert users before opening a new tab.

We are working to ensure and find new pathways to improve accessibility across our site.

PYLN.ORG will evaluate our website using various accessibility tools on a 12-month cycle.

This is part of our broader effort to make everyone’s experience with PYLN a welcoming and enjoyable one.

Please note that while we make every effort to provide information accessible for all users, we cannot guarantee the accessibility of third party websites to which we may link.
